Industry Leaders Discuss Global Trade Initiatives & Capabilities in Dec. 2 Webinar:
Hi Gary.
First i have to say that im not impressed with use of ridicule based or emotionally loaded words like Quack.
I dont feel its being very amicable.
That aside,i read the article and i feel the decision made was correct.
I dont feel that at that stage there should be any harsher penalties.
I feel that first, companies should be given a chance to rectify their error on the basis that they may have acted in good faith & not intentionally caused to mislead for eg:they might have interpreted they study/s incorrectly.
Then if the company still continues to do the same thing and ignores any warnings/"disciplining" then harsher penalties might need to be applied depending on the different cases.
For example educational classes maybe should be mandated if the company is really unaware/cant see what they are doing is wrong & doesnt wish to change. At the other end of the scale,if the companies are knowingly & willingly involved in corruption for the sake of financial gain without any concern for customers -for example twisting study results to make something that is 100% proven to be dangerous to sound safe for the sake of financial gain because they knwo there si big money to be made so theyve sold out to money, then harsher penalties would be needed-i guess on case by case basis, maybe anything between not being allowed to practise business for a certain amount of years or forever,to jail time at the extreme.
That goes for pharmaceutical companies too.
I dont think the penalty should ever be monetary as this penalises more smaller businesses but doesnt deter large businesses and some large businesses willingly commit "shifty business" & pay the penalties knowing that the incoming profit ends up being larger then what they have to pay when penalised.
Edit:Treat the cause. The questions not about Tony I
hey ryan – two things here. firstly, if both wages and prices are driven down, everyone is just as well off as before (and those on fixed incomes, like pensioners, are even better off) in real terms.
Secondly, free trade – that is, allowing europeans to buy goods from developing countries without the EU taking a hefty slice – clearly boosts the wages of those such as farmers in the poorest nations. And when exports rise and incomes rise, investment in small enterprises becomes a reality (unlike through the Eu's current tax-them-out-of-the-market-then-give-corrupt-governments-a-small-slice policy) lifting hundreds of millions more people out of poverty in the way that increased global trade over the last 20 years has demonstrated, despite current hinderences.
so no defence is required – you're making no sense, pal, and i would advise you to stop making a fool of your self so repetitvely on these message boards.
From your own 'reports':
Senate Minority Report wrote:
Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical — quoting former NASA scientist, Dr. Joanne Simpson
Here quote puts her remarks about skepticism in context:
Dr. Joanne Simpson wrote:
What should we as a nation do? Decisions have to be made on incomplete information. In this case, we must act on the recommendations of Gore and the IPCC because if we do not reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and the climate models are right, the planet as we know it will in this century become unsustainable.
