Efficacy Tests | In vitro tests:
The efficacy of the SYN-AKE™ tripeptide (at a concentration of 0.5mM) has been demonstrated in vitro by measuring the frequency of contraction of the innervated muscle cell as a function of the incubation time.
SYN-AKE™ peptide reduces muscle cell contraction and its action if reversible.
Efficacy Tests | In vivi tests:
The measurement of the smoothing and anti-wrinkle effect of SYN-AKE™ (4%) was compared to a placebo. A cream was applied to the forehead twice daily during 28 days.
SYN-AKE™ - Age Killing Effect.
The smoothing effect (Ra) was measured on 80% of the volunteers and the anti-wrinkle effect (Rz, Rt) measured on 73% of the volunteers.
Results showed up to 52% of wrinkle size after 28 days application!
SYN-AKE™ is a new anti-wrinkle active compound based on a synthetic tripeptide that mimics the effect of waglerin 1, a peptide that is found in the venom of the Temple Viper, Tropidolaemus wagleri.

The star ingredient, Syn-ake, is the winning innovation at the 'Swiss Technology Awards 2006'.
Syn-ake is synthetic snake venom engineered to mimic actual snake venom for use in anti-age skin care in an attempt to reduce muscle cell contractions that cause wrinkles, and in doing so, provide botox-like results without an injection.
The venom in the Temple Viper (distant cousin to the rattle snake found in southeast asia), its paralytic properties for use in cosmetic applications, and narrowed it down to a combination of three amino acids bound together that inhibit, or block, the signals to the muscle to contract.
In detail, the clinical tests showed that a smoothing effect was measured in 80 per cent of volunteers, while an anti-wrinkle effect was demonstrated in 73 per cent of the volunteers over a 28 day period. The ingredient won the 2006 Swiss Technology Awards for its innovation and technical capabilities.
Planet Skincare's products are paraben free and are not animal tested. Other ingredients of the moisturiser include passion flower oil, rose flower water, mango, calendula oil, jojoba and vitamin E acetate.

I wonder if some of us are comfortable with who we are because we are surrounded by positive people, had strong mothers who raised us, or, just “aren't that into it” in terms of lifting, tucking, worrying, etc. Aging means getting wiser, not getting smoother…hey, if you can do both, great. I guess.
Smoother would be good, oh, but I think the upkeep is too much for me. Like an old car, you fix one thing and it just draws attention to something else that needs work!
I'm going to go with Catherine Deneuve's tip – “When you get older, you have to be ready to trade your ass for your face.” She reckons that being thinner makes women over 40 look older. I'm all for that – the pizza and glass of wine for Saturday lunch is really for anti-ageing purposes.
