Floor Lamp Considerations

You probably put in a lot of time thinking about the carpet, the paint, and the furniture you will use. One item that if often left out of consideration is what type of lighting you will be using. The type of lighting you decided to use will have a significant impact on not just the feel of your home, but also what your new decorum will look like to others. If you are on a budget, and can't afford expensive fixed lighting, one good alternative is to use a floor lamp. These types of lamps are extremely adaptable, and can be moved or adjusted in a certain way to make it fit in well with just about any room. Here are a few points to consider when thinking about adding a floor lamp to your home.
A floor lamp will come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors, and materials for you to choose. These lamps are extremely trendy right now and for good reason, they simply look good almost anywhere they are placed. They can add a special ambiance and feel to a room that no other piece of furniture can quite add, so it is worth your time and effort to look in to them carefully. A floor lamp is most often used in a corner of a room to brighten it up and add some utility to it. These lamps can often look extremely well when placed in an entry way, dining room, or even a sitting room or parlor.
There are three main styles, or groups, or floor lamps for your to consider. The main type is the console floor lamp, which is the classic type you will often see. This usually has a rounded base, with a vertical pole, and a downward shining light on top. The next common type of floor lamp is the Torchiere, which is similar to a console lamp except that the light beam is directed upward toward the ceiling. The last main type of floor lamp is the arc floor lamp. You can spot these because the pole that hold the light is not vertical but it curves upward. These lights can either have one main bulb, or several smaller bulbs that give it a starburst look.
When shopping for you lamp the first think to keep in mind to see if it is compatible with the style of your room. For example, you would not want to buy a new age lamp for a Southwestern style adobe house, it just would not look right. You need to select a lamps that will enhance the furnishings and colors of your home. You may have to bring the lamps home to see if it looks just right, and if it does not you will have to return it and try again.
Look for a lamp that is quality made with good craftsmanship and attention to detail. You will want your lamps to last a long time, so it is worth it to pay a little extra to get a floor lamp that is made well. Check to make sure the lamp is sound and stable, so that it does not wobble with every bump and knock it may get. Also look really close at the finish and paint to make sure that it is laid down well without any gaps or bubbles.
Finally, inspect the bulb carefully and make sure that is bright enough to light up the area you need it in. There is nothing more frustrating in a home than a lamp that is too dim and does not put out enough light. You can even buy a model with an adjustable bulb to accommodate different moods. Be sure you new floor lamp can use the new compact fluorescent bulbs so you can be as energy efficient as possible.

Live rock is cured in "no light" conditions. However, from what I'm reading here, you really want to keep your live rock in a sump and extra bio substrate in your canister filter.
Your live rock should never be changed. But you can try switching from filter to tank once a month. Set aside some rubble in your tank that will be on rotation with what's in your filter.

i really dont believe in cures/ remedy. because a cure cannot make a bad fengshui into good; it just makes it neutral.
if your ceiling is very high, then your beams wont affect you. the beams only affect you, if you have a low ceiling. as the flow of chi will affect your body, esp if the room is a bedroom. but if the beams are in a room where you do not stay long. then it is okay.
i think you misunderstood what fengshui is about. forget about what most books tell you. you will just be more confused and paranoid. if you really like to learn about some fengshui methods. you can get "an advanced course in fengshui" by eva wong, it explains basic flying stars, which is simple yet powerful. that book is worth reading. but you need to note that this book only teaches you the basic use of the method. for a deeper understanding, you need to attend some seminars held by fengshui masters/ practitioners.

you need to realize a smaller subconciouse fact before the BIG light can come on.
It just means that you are probably dealing with some issues, subconciousely, and you are now beginning to work throught them. the two different lights indicates you need to come to two realizations, you need to look at one aspect before you can move onto the next one.
