You are right if you stay out of the sun for the most part your skin won't get damaged. The real killer of skin is when you go to the tanning salon every week to get that nice tan. That is why so many people who lived in the 60's and 70's when they didn't really know about skin cancer are all having problems and wrinkled because they would go tanning way to much. However it is still important to get some vitamin d so spf 100 is a little to far. You should be fine with SPF 35-50.
