QUESTION:
Chemical peel before or after mask?
I recently purchased queen helene mint julep facial masque, and i just wanted to know whether it is best to used it a day before a chemical peel or a day after or on the same day? Also does anyone know any good at home microdermabrasion kits that aren't overly expensive? thanks in advance-
ANSWER:
That depends on how you react to the chemical peel. It can be very abrasive. I would suggest waiting until the next day to do the mask. It's not worth doing it before hand sd the chemical peel will be removing that layer of skin.As for an inexpensive Microdermabrasion home kit: Try Neostrata's Skin Resurfacing Duo. You can usually find it in a kit with Chemical Peel as well. I bought mine at Shoppers Drug Mart.

QUESTION:
Burn Mark after Chemical Peel. Never happened before. Mark/Pigmentation left even after scabs have gone. Help?
I did a LACTIC ACID PEEL (90%) on my face. Usually is quite pleasant but this time it really burnt as my face was really dry in areas near my mouth esp on my chin. This has left burn marks as in deep brown marks on my face (just like pigmentation after Acne). Skin has healed and scab is gone, its smooth now but left a mark. Help anyone experienced? Please-
ANSWER:
See a dermatologist. He may be able to help. If it is not too soon, there is a laser frequency that can be used to take away the discoloration.( frequently used to remove large birthmarks)
My skin is very fair and although I have not had a peel, it is one of my concerns. I can be in the sun for 15 min and look light pink. When I come inside, I turn lobster red. Take care of your skin. Sounds like you are of to a good start and I'd imagine this reaction was a rare one.
think about any medication you were taking or anything different in your routine so your can decrease the odds of it happening again.

QUESTION:
I have these bumps that kinda look like acne, but they have been there a year--came after a chemical peel.?
HELP! I had a chemical peel about a year and a half ago, and for about the last year, I have had these horrible clogged pore looking bumps on my face. NOTHING seems to get rid of them. I never had this problem before, and I don't know what to do. I had a chemical peel before I got married to make my skin look a little more youthful (which it did, temporarily). But it's almost like it damaged my skin. I cannot go to a dermatologist, because when I called, they said they could put me on accutane, but we are trying to get pregnant, so I can't be on it. I have tried pro-active for the past year and nothing shrinks them. Any ideas???-

QUESTION:
Chemical peel question??
Hi everyone.
I used a drugstore brand (Acne free spot treatment) on-the-spot treatment on the whole right side of my face to clear up a few blemishes I had. After I used this product three times in a row, I noticed the skin of my cheek was VERY dry. In fact, so dry that within a few days I could peel the dead skin off the side of my cheek. This freaked me out so I stopped using the spot treatment...until I noticed that after the dead skin peeled, my face looked SO MUCH BETTER! It seemed to have worked as a chemical peel. So my question is, can I use this product again on other spots of my face that have some scars?? I've gotten microdermabrasions and chemical peels before...and they cost me more then I can afford. Is it okay for me to use this as a subsitute?
.....could you explain please?-
ANSWER:
i would be cautious you can do A LOT of damage with stuff like that i would read the directions and not use it more or longer than it says on the box

QUESTION:
Chemical face peel yesterday and i still have pimples..l should i pop them?
so yesterday i had my first chemical peel (the lightest kind).
Before the peel i had many acne scars, nothing severe, and about four actual pimples.
Now after my scars have really decreased and some of my pimples have almost completely cleared, however, two of my pimples got much worse.Since my skin is already so sensitive from the chemical face peel should i pop these zits?
-
ANSWER:
A lot of people don't know this but you aren't actually supposed to pop zits or pimples. It can make it worse, and the reason people don't think it does anything is because it often messes around under your skin and then a while later is when you'll get a breakout or a very red pimple in that spot.
So people think "oh, well I popped that zit a long time ago so it couldn't be from that" when really it is.

QUESTION:
im getting a chemical peel, but i still have questions!?
Im getting a chemical peel in about a week for acne scars, sun damage, and persistent white/black heads. I have a couple of questions for all of you out there that have had a chemical peel before. My questions are: how much time passed between the procedure and actually beginning to peel? how long did your skin take to peel/shed? The reason im asking is because im going to school after my procedure and my dermatologist said you take about 2 days to begin to peel but i want to hear your experience. Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Ok I got a chemical peel from one of the bests...first of all its dependent on how deep the peel is...let me warn you though when the apply the glycolic acid for some weird reason it felt like my eyes were burning ( he wasnt a novice, he worked on park ave) anyways be aware of that.....your going to squint your eyes really hard---but it feels like heaven after they spray the soda water on...
I dont reccomend going back to school.... I had to have my boyfriend pick me up at the front door and I kept my head down the whole way home-its not comfortable and you will be very red, the way your skin peels is dependent on how deep the peel is (what concentration of acid) seeing that its your first time theres a possibility that you wont peel much (I honestly didnt peel that much) My mom however who had a very deep peel looked like a snake shedding skin the next day....Hope it goes well!

QUESTION:
Chemical peel and/or microdermabrasion??
Hi everybody.
When I was younger, I used to struggle with acne. Fortunately though, I learned how to keep my face under control. The only problem now is that I still have marks and scarring from when I used to have acne. I have gotten both a chemical peel and a microdermabrasion and have been told my face looks much better...but I'm not sure. What I don't understand is that after my skin peels from a chemical peel, the marks are still there...and sometimes look even more dramatic then before I got the chemical peel. How does this work if it makes my face looks worse after words??-
ANSWER:
With either chemical peels or microdermabrasion, it takes a series of treatments before you receive results. With both of these treatments 6-12 are the recommended series.
What kind of peel did you have? If you had a light peel such as a glycolic, lactic, or salicyllic acid peel, then microderabrasion would be better for you anyway, because 1 microderm is equal to about 4 of these peels. You might also consider a stronger peel deending on your level of scarring, that can be done only by a dermatologist. I would visit a dermatologist for a consultation.

QUESTION:
Anyone had chemical peels before?
Im contemplating on doing one end of this month. Does it do any good for acne scars? Will I look decent enough 3 days after the session to go to work? (cant afford to take leave, im still new at work) Im 25 and had acne for the longest time. Its about time I get rid of the scars and leave bad memories behind!!
-
ANSWER:
I have had a great experience and again this may be as I am in Australia but where I go I can get three or four different types of peel. I went for the same reason, I actually went to get microdermabrasion and was told it can bring out capillaries in the skin and damage your skin.So I had a really light peel, its called a benefit peel if you happen to have avana wherever you live. Basically you just look like you have had too much sun on the evening, then next day you look normal and the day after you look like you are peeling from the sun so you look odd but you could easily go to work, I went shopping and stuff (it looks just like when you peel when you come back from holiday). There are however much deeper peels that have you off work for days and thats for deep scaring. Acne scars aren;t usually incredibly deep so i assume you can do what I have done and have a light peel. Don't go for glycolic and don't go to a beauty salon (they are not trained always in Australia anyway). I go to a former nurse who runs a specialist clinic for botox etc (mild treatments). The scars are sooo much better too!!! I have been four times the first time had the best effect!!! My skin looked so much better and gradually as I go every now and then it gets a little better.
I do recommend even though I was scared to death when I went for micro derm and she told me I should have acid on my face instead!

ANSWER:
the thing with chemical peel is that it is better to have 2 weeks of leave. because when you when you have it done, you cannot expose you skin to sunlight, and it is better to just stay at home.i have been using anti aging products since i was 18, i am 38 now. i used to have an acne problem too. and the only product which did it for me was aramis lab series anti aging supplement. whenever i had a pimple, i just pricked it, clean it with soap and water. then apply the anti aging lotion, after 2 weeks, the blemish will peel off, leaving no scars. unfortunately, the people at aramis changed the formula.
now, i think the best that i can recommend is mario badescu's drying lotion - it really works. and you do not have to prick your pimple.
then the best face soap that i am using is aramis lab series soap (used to be dual action soap, now i think it's the moisturizing soap), it is a transparent looking soap. the thing that i like about this soap is that it cleans my face leaving no oily residues.
i am also using some exfoliating products, which is like a slow chemical peel. i use murad age spot remover with steiva-a 0.10 or 10% (retinol based). but you need to be careful in using these 2, as your face can get burned, literally. before, i use it about once a week, when my face get used to it, i increase it to twice a week. but if you are using an exfoliating product, you need a whitening/ lightening product (murad age spot remover) because the burning can slightly darken your skin.
last, you should always avoid the sun - always use a sunblock on your face.

QUESTION:
Chemical Peel Question?!?
Okay i just came back from chemical peeling, the doctor did not ask whether i shave anot before doing the chemical peel then she only apple the chemical for 1min because my face went rashly. After that i told her is it because i just shave then she OH yes.. i will ask my patient next time... can i ask for 1 more chemical peel because she did not ask that did i just shave anot? i bought a set of 5 treatment and this was my 1st one-
ANSWER:
there's no harm in asking! say that the first treatment was not effective because of the shaving and mention that you purchased 5 treatments, which will mean you are a valued customer. Chemical peels are very expensive, and it's only right that you get your money's worth! This is not really a chemical peel question!
Try ebay for chemical peels and do it yourself (you have to be brave though)

QUESTION:
Chemical Peel causing rash?
I just had a chemical peel done about 4 days ago and on the 3rd day I noticed that I was getting little tiny bumps around my eyebrow area. These bumps don't look like blackheads or pimples or anything like that and they just appeared from one day to the next.
After I had the chemical peel done, the dermatologist told me to wear a lotion on top of the peel that I had been using for a while before. It's called dormer. There's also another chemical added to it to prevent acne on acne prone skin.
Were these bumps caused by the chemical peel or were they caused by the lotion on top reacting with the chemicals of the peel? Those areas are a bit itchy so I believe that it's a rash or my skin just being irritated.
Also, it's been really hot and humis these past days, could it just be miliaria?-
ANSWER:
I would call my Dermatologist to find out if I were you, because
we don't know your skin type and our answers might mislead you into doing something you shouldn't....Good Luck

QUESTION:
Side effect of chemical peel?
I've had three chemical peels in the last couple of months. The first two were fine, but the third one (I had done on Friday afternoon) was different...The beautician made it stronger, and left it on for almost half an hour as opposed to the normal ten or fifteen minutes. And this time it HURT.
Before I had it there was a small (about 1cm round) patch of dry skin above my lip which was a little pink. Now after the peel (which she REALLY rubbed into the dry patch) it has gone a really dark red color. A bit of skin has peeled off. I wish she'd just left it alone!
How long will it be till its not as noticeable? I don't want to leave the house but I have to go to work tomorrow
And I'm maid of honor in a wedding at the end of the month! Will it take long to disappear? She gave me a little bit of Hydrocortisone to put on it which I am.
My whole face is so dry, it was never like this after the other peels, and it seems like all the tiny little red marks from pimples are so much darker now
I'm not sure exactly what it was...
It was stinging pretty bad when she put it on and while I waited, and when she washed it off the water reactivated it so it started stinging again. The pain lasted for about half an hour after I left.-
ANSWER:
Half an hour? What solution did she use? Was it one of those self-terminating (like salicylic acid) or she used the stronger stuff like trichloroacetic acid which feels like it burns down to the bone.
None of us can answer this question unfortunately. You need to call her first thing in the morning (on Monday, I suppose).
Meanwhile, are you using any lotion to keep your face moist and stay out of the sun?

QUESTION:
Megan fox before or after surgery?
People are only noticing her surgery now?In 2007, when she was just 21 she started with her lips and her first nose job. Since then she’s had another nose job, chemical peels, dental work, a boob job, botox, mini brow lift, blepharoplasty (eye surgery) and she shaved her jaw line / got a chin implant.
She has been having surgery for the past 3 years, and now she’s gone overboard with the cheek implants. What a waste of natural beauty.

Chemical Peel Help?
I am about to get one tomorrow morning. I already know all the details of what happens before during and after.
I was wondering if I could get any helpful advice though.
I do not work until this Friday and I hope that is enough time to "heal" a bit, enough to show up to work looking mostly normal.
Any hints, advice, experience? This peel is going to be a light one to rid of acne scars.

ANSWER:
water, good vitamins, and they should give you a sample or samples of after care products. biolage, physiodermy and some others i can't remember are gentle enough to use after. mineral makeup only to prevent infection and make sure you wash your brushes tonight with shampoo and conditioner...dirty makeup brushes on delicate skin is a big no no. sunblock is a must to prevent blistering and further scarring...use one that is paba free..that is really important. and good luck.

QUESTION:
Chemical Peeling done, still no peeling?
I had chemical peeling done by a pro. derma last 5 days ago but until now still no peeling. Is this normal or am I suppose to peel after a few more days?It was my 1st time too, and maybe there were changes in my skin. But usually how many times would it take before the ance and scars fade away?
-
ANSWER:
When my friend got her peel done, it started by the time she was out of the office and after a week it was healing. Also, after the first time most of the surface scars were gone. A deeper scar may take more time to heal. I don't know how much scarring you have, so it's hard to say.xo, Pam

QUESTION:
Do chemical peels really help acne scars?
I've done a lot of research on this and can find many before and after pics that look like they are working. I have been doing a 20% TCA peel at home for a bit (three to be exact) and I think the reason that the after pics looks so good is because you are slathering on so much lotion after the peel that your face plumps up. It's hard to find long term photos on the net, so I'm wondering if anyone has a true success story and if so, how long it really takes to see results.-
ANSWER:
I don't think you're doing this right. A TCA 20% will have downtime. My skin turned red, looked like a bad sunburn. Then, after 4-5 days, it started peeling. It was like a crust that came off then. The skin looked bad, you don't want to be seen like this. Doesn't sound like that's what you went through. If that's the case, you might have gotten a totally diluted TCA. Start with something weaker... not TCA. AHA or sycolic acid, for instance.

QUESTION:
Thinking about VI Peel ViPeel chemical peel?
I tried the peel to get rid of fine lines, acne and acne scars, freckles, sun damage and large pours and to tighten/firm. I'm on day #3, and I've already completely peeled. The procedure was painless. The process was painless. There was just a little itching and burning discomfort after applying each of the 2 pads before bedtime that I solved by using topical hydrocortisone (Cortisone-10) clear gel. The cream that came with the VI Peel kit burned like crazy; just use hydrocortisone. I scratched my face lightly when it itched, and when it started to peel, I pulled the skin lightly where it would come off. Nothing bad happened by doing this. It was neat watching my old skin get leathery and peel off and seeing my new skin underneath. My new skin results: Skin looks fresh and clean, and looks and feels smooth; my acne is all dried up, my skin is tighter around my jaw line but just a little bit, and my fine lines are gone. My freckles are still here, my large pours are still here, and my red acne spots are still here, but they are flush with my skin and not raised anymore, so at least I can cover them with makeup. I have a few large lines, and they are still here, too. I guess I'll try some kind of pour-reducing agent and a hyperpigmentation lightener for the red acne spots and freckles. I paid 0 for the peel and to have it applied and everything from an esthetician who came to my house. I found out today that I can buy my own 100% trichloroacetic acid on eBay for around , which is the main ingredient in the Vi Peel, so if I ever feel the urge to see what another peel can do, I'll go this route. You really don't need any of the other stuff that comes in the kit. Just the acid and some topical hydrocortisone, in my opinion. You can get the other ingredients in a multivitamin (vitamins A and C) and in a good exfoliant like Saint Ives Apricot Scrub.
Yes, Sarah, it is very cool. I had a hard time finding honest reviews online before I had mine done, so I posted this for people to find who are thinking about getting it done.

QUESTION:
Chemical Peels? Do they hurt?
I have acne scaring and was wondering about chemical peels. I was thinking about getting one but i am quite young and only have scaring on my chin. I also still have some acne. Would that affect it in any way? How does your skin "peel off" is it like after a sunburn peeling where its flaky and uneven or do you not even see it peeling? How longs it take to heal? And what does your skin look like after the process? Also has anyone tried Neutrogena over the counter peel? Should I try that before going to a dermatologist? How would I apply that?-
ANSWER:
I just had one done yesterday at the dermatologist......I paid 0 for it...It burns sooo much when you get it done....but it will definitely make ur skin look and feel betterr...
Don't even try the Neutrogena peel..ur ganna waste ur money..cuz their not effective at all..if they peel..their peel will be less than that of a sunburn..
chemical peel:
-The peel I just got is far more effective...it'll take away most scars and blemishes and bumbs on the face..
-It clears up in about a week...u might need a second peel after a month if you have deep scars
-cost is only 0..apposed to paying around 30 iam not sure how much the neutogena one is..but ur paying that for nothing...if you have insurance it might cover it!!!
-right after the chemical peel I seen my skin and seen it was red then it had a white layer at the top..it was scaryyy!! when I got home it was only red..and this morning it's kinda brownish pinkI'm 20..so young too..you can have it done before they scar more

QUESTION:
Do you keep your tan after you peel?
(IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ THE DETAILS: After I took a shower and most of the dead skin came off, it is visible that I have gotten my regular white skin color back with some red markings. My question is, will I keep my tan from before?)Just so you guys know, my natural skin tone is extremely white, and I burn easily.
So, during the memorial day weekend, I went to the beach, all was well, until I decided to lay out. I put sunscreen (I believe with spf 35) on my body and nothing on my face. Now, you must be wondering... "Why didn't you put it on my face?" Well, I was ignorant. I hate putting any type of oil, chemical, or spray on my face, I'm just not comfortable with it.
Back on the subject:
Long story short, I layed out for about 50 - 70 minutes before I went inside and took a shower.
About 3 hours after, my face turned red, I mean like BRIGHT BRIGHT red. So red that it looked like I had make up. Despite my redness, I had a nice golden tan. Through out the days, it got worse, and worse.... I refused to put any type of moisturizer or aloe vera, again, because of my ignorance.
SO, since yesterday, I have been putting on Aloe Vera, moisturizer, and a bit of lotion. During the last two - three days, I have been peeling like crazy.....
After I took a shower and most of the dead skin came off, it is visible that I have gotten my regular white skin color back with some red markings. My question is, will I keep my tan from before?
-
ANSWER:
you should keep your tan, usually i burn and then peel and i'm tan. but i guess some people might be defferent.

QUESTION:
Do I need to use wood brightener after stripping my deck before putting on a solid stain?
the deck is like 25 years old and I'm not sure of its history. I used a chemical stripper on it and the wood seemed to be very dark underneath, if i use a solid stain over it without a wood brightener would the residual effects of the stripper cause peeling, and would the dark color of the wood darken the solid stain-
ANSWER:
XTacky, There very good deck cleaners available. Go to a QUALITY paint store & ask about if you still need to. Before you put down new stain, you want the decking to be as clean as possible! Ultimatley, that will give you the best job. You certainly do not want any lose stain left over before you restain. If possible, the objective is to strip the lumber totally clean if you can. There are cleaners that totally strip your deck of all the old stain and clean the lumber to its origional color. Ultimatley, that's what you want. You have to be careful though. The really GOOD cleaners have a light acid in them and if you have plants around or under your decking, that cleaning material will trash your plants. If you can use the really good deck cleaners, basically, you can roll or spray the stuff on, let it set up for 10 minutes or so then, just hose it off. If you can, use a good product that actually cleans and strips the decking to its origional color. That will give you a great surface to restain on. If the decking is still discolored after stripping, when you put your stain on, the finish will appear darker than it really should be. That's why you really want to use a really good deck cleaner to clean the lumber to its origional color if you can. Any areas of your decking where there may be old stain left prior to restaining, those areas will also take longer to dry and they will appear darker than the areas where you cleaned the decking well. Deck cleaning 7 restaining is a real pain-in-the-a**. it's a lot of work and depending upon your weather conditions there, even good stains only hold up for 2-3 years and then, you get to do it all over again. Anyway, My Dad has a lot of redwood decking at his house and I have redone his MANY times over the last 25 years... And I'm getting tired of it (LOL) Good luck!

QUESTION:
Glyco-lac peel- Raw Skin?
Just a few hours ago I performed a Glyco-lac peel (20% glycolic acid and 15% lactic acid). Immediately following the peel I observed skin frosting and a burning/tingling sensation. I have done sacilyic peels before, however the burning from this peel was more potent.
Anyways, after using a neutralizer and cetaphil cream mosturizer, I noticed that the areas around my cheekbone were oozing a clear liquid. Furthermore the skin seemed very raw and red. I applied some neosporin the the area and later some Hydrogen peroxde to disinfect. However the oozing is still occuring from the raw area.
Is this possibly a chemical burn? I assumed a 20% glycolic acid/ lactic acid mix would be fairly mild however this burning/ raw skin is not like what I experienced with the sacilyic acid peel. What do you think is going on?-
ANSWER:
Did you get it from the same brand or company you had purchased it for in the past? While reading up about this is looks like other people had similar results with certain brfands. Do some searches on the exact product you used to see if other have had similar concerns.

QUESTION:
chemical peels?
I've heard and read alot of good things about chemical face peels, but are there in negatives to it or bad skin after problems. How much does it cost and how long is the healing time before i can wear makeup or go back to work looking normal?-
ANSWER:
Chemical peels are actually one of the safest ways to replenish skin, because lasers (which are all the rage) can cause more damage..like scarring, un-even pigmentation, take longer, and cost more. Healing time is anywhere from 7-14 days. It has the same reaction as it would a sunburn. The Dr.s put on the chemical solution in the desired area and it will start to peel to reveal the new layer of skin and that new layer will be free from any of the issues with it's previous layer. You can wear make-up during the healing, but it's very likely it will cause aggrivation and increase the time it will need to heal fully. It's not covered by insurance because it is considered a cosmetic procedure, but it can run anywhere from 0 and up. Here is a link on a bunch of more in-depth info on chemical peels and the different types, process, example pics, and risks:http://www.plasticsurgery.org/public_education/procedures/ChemicalPeel.cfm

QUESTION:
Just wanted to inform you guys!?
So, as many of you know I have extremely dry skin. This wouldn't really be a problem, but sadly, my skin doesn't peel on its own. So the dry layers just accumulate, till my skin gets thicker and thicker...and more uneven. I rarely get spots, but I have extremely uneven skin. Before last summer I started the chemical peels, but since I always go to Spain in the Summer (A LOT of sun) I chickened out about doing that over the summer, because when a lot of sun hits those "thinned out/peeled down" layers of skin, major scars can form.
Months later I started becoming really unhappy about my skin again and while the pill has regulated my hormones, which means my face isn't dry, dry, dry anymore...the dead skin still won't fall of properly (yes, even when I peel myself).
So, today I started up the chemical peels again. It hurts like a bitch. The dermatologist applies a chemical solution to your skin for roughly 4 minutes. Those chemicals cause a chemical burn to the first layer of your skin. It sounds worse than it is, trust me. Through that "artificial sunburn" new cells are forced to go into production aka new healthier skin forms.
Now you need to have this prescribed and you have to do it over months!
So, I'm going to take a picture of my face, without make-up, right after the treatment) for the next few months and in the end I may have worked up enough courage to show you the before and after picture.
My main problem is that I scratch at my dry skin till it becomes bloody, but the peelings stop that too...since putting the solution on wounded skin hurts more than on unbroken sin.
So, stay tuned. I know how annoying my self-esteem issues are and this is probably really going to boost it!
Though I did walk around town with sunglasses, a scarf, and a hat on today, because after the first day of treatment I basically look like an irritated, but smooth, tomato.
Wish me luck!

QUESTION:
I don't really believe my derm. doc.?
I've been going to a dermatologist for two months now. I don't have insurance which means i pay for everything out of my pocket. I see him every two weeks. On average i pay 95. That includes the visit fee and the medicine. My main issue is acne and the scars its left. He prescribed me two kinds of medicine that i was taking but have stopped because i don't see any difference when i take it.(not in a bad way though) Anyway, so the only thing that really helps is the cleanser he gives me. It dries out my skin so i have less breakouts. Here's thing. I bought the clean and clear on the spot acne med. at the store and it works wonders. It's stops the inflammation and makes the scars look less visible. The last visit i went to, my doc. said "oh it looks so much better" I didn't tell him it was because i started using the clean and clear product. On my last visit i asked him if i could get the chemical peel for my scars(i had been bugging him about it since i started seeing him and he had said he wanted to wait till i stopped breaking out as much and the acne got smaller, it did) He finally said it was ok. I asked how big of a difference it would make and what will my face look like right after the peel. I did my research before asking him all this so i already knew the answer. I also knew that if the person is doing a chemical peel they do three on average(depending on the reason) Once a month, and every month the doe-sage of the chemical peel goes up. All he said to me was, " your scars will not go away completely, stay out of the sun for a while and your scars are going to look darker". Ummm, why didn't he mention any of the other things? Oh, he's old, so maybe he just forgets? I'm going to get the peel done next week, should i be worried?-
ANSWER:
A few things: first of all, I"m a dermatologist. On the average, it generally takes about four to six weeks of being on an oral agent for the acne to begin looking better. So, it sounds as if you might not have given the medicine a fair trial. Of course, not every one responds the same, so it's very possible that you'd have needed a change of meds. But, acne, when it's over, will often leave behind both scars (dents) and marks (the red areas). Any treatment for reducing the appearance of the scars will be determined by how deep the scars are. If they are superficial, then the peels should help a lot; if they are deep, then nothing short of laser resurfacing is going to affect them much. You didn't mention what sort of peel you are to be getting, so I'm unable to tell you what to expect or what benefit you should be receiving. Some peels are superficial; some are mid-level; some are deep. As a rule, I also don't do peels on my patients until they are controlled with their acne, as it never made sense to me to have a patient spend money to correct a problem when the problem wasn't finished. Good luck. I hope I helped you out a bit.

QUESTION:
Was told to use Witch Hazel to close my pores after I exfoliate?
I get chemical peels at least 2 times a month for acne. Thankfully my acne has subsided and i no longer have acne, but just to be safe I continue to get these chemical peels. I do though, have a lot of black heads in my nose and cheek bones. I was recommended to exfoliate with a micro-beads to lift the blackheads after I exfoliate she recommend I use witch hazel to close my pores. Would this work? My main concern is breaking out again. I;ve never used it before and i don't want it to cause me to break out again. I have oily skin and when i use stuff that causes more oil i get little pimples. What do you guys think?-
ANSWER:
I. Wash with African black soap, then use witch hazel and jojoba oil. Witch hazel is the most natural toner you can get.

QUESTION:
What options do I have if I was fired because I'm 42 and I have some age wrinkles?
I was hired 2 months ago to open and manage a practice for a new dermatologist in my town. Friday out of the blue he fired me. Apparently I do not have the face of dermatology. I don't have scars or anything, but I'm 42 years old.He is currently practicing with falsified credentials. He paid people off to lie for him. He has put the girls in the office on a diet medication called didrex because he doesn't want a fat office staff. This is really not a medication I would like my nurse to be taking before she numbs me up for a doctor to cut on me.
He also purchased Chemical Facial Skin Peels for the girls in the office, because as I stated he wants a beautiful office staff. He wants to show his patients and other doctors in the community that he has the most beautiful staff. He has said on multiple occasions that his first priority is to make his staff gorgeous.
I didn't have a problem with the skin peels, after all what women wouldn't want a free Chemical Skin Peel to help make her look younger. I personally passed on the diet medication, because they say taking this medication is like using meth, and it's also very addictive, a class 3 medication.
Anyways, he has been really cool and down to earth, even with the requests for us to become beautiful, I never really let it bother me, but on Friday morning when I went to work out of the blue he says you have 5 minutes to gather your belongings and leave my office, your employment here is not working out like I had planned. That very afternoon, 2 young very beautiful girls showed up to apply for my managment job, although they were un-qualified for the managment job, he agreed that it would be good for the practice to hire them as secretaries because of how beautiful they are.
He sleeps (supposedly alone) at the office 4 nights a week, because it's an hour drive home for him. And I say supposedly alone, because one of the nurses that he has been making some of his out of line comments to, has made multiple return trips to the office on the nights he was there for one reason or another, and has stayed late on many others. Him and this nurse share many phone calls and emails, that are stricktly between them, leaving myself and the other nurse to wonder, what the real reason for my out of the blue immediate termination could be from.
If anyone has any advice for me. I have emailed him tried to call him, and contact him anyway i could but he is refusing my calls, will not answer my emails, and will not tell me why he fired me.
I think depending on the answers I get from here, I will most likely be hiring an attorney, and contacting our local hospital that he works at to let them know about his falsified credentials, as well as the board, and some insurance companies, like Medicare and Medicaid.
Please any advice will help, I'm hurt, confused, mad all the above, in all my years of working, I've never been treated this way by anyone for any reason. Oh and by the way he is made in Tawian, and he is the same age as me, and he is very far from "easy on the eyes".
Thanks Again
The way I know about his credentials, is that last week, a few insurance companies called trying to verify his credentials. He was applying to become a provider, after several calls, I told him that he needed to contact the University of Chicago and find out where the problem was, being I was his office mngr, he told me that if they call the University itself, they cannot verify, they need to call his specific friends that he paid to lie for him. When I questioned this he said he need a break from his wife and school and took a year off in Chicago alone and 1 with his wife, but never did his schooling, and instead paid friends that worked there to verify him.
He is licensed in the state of TN, but his board certification is partially based on his education, which is where he falsified the information. To the board, the hospital and everyone else. I just found this out on Tuesday, but on Tuesday he was talking to me then Friday he fired me.
On the issue of the medication, I know the pharmacy that the medication was called into, they can verify that there isn't even a chart on file for the nurses he just called it in. He asked me to take it as well, but my blood pressure did not allow me to take it, I'm only a few pounds overweight anyways, nothing a little giving up of a few snacks wouldn't take care of.
The information about him falsifying his credentials was only brought to my attention Wednesday afternoon. As I said this is a new practice, to my knowledge this is the first practice he has ever had. Yes even at 42 years old. I was very taken by the information that he gave me about this and did plan on doing some further checking on a personal level, because I need to work and live in this town, and I did not want to be working for a doctor that has been sued 100 times or had deep dark secrets that just as this would follow me. He is medically licened in the state of TN, and I don't know how he managed to fool so many.I know that the hospital has offered a large financial bonus to bring him to this area, in the process of this happening (his coming to town) the girl at the hospital that normally handles this quit her job and a new person was brought in, the only thing I can think is he just happened to luck out on his timing, don't a**holes like that always hit it right...

Turn him in for practicing medicine without a license. You weren't let go for wrinkles are two months, people don't change that much in two months.

ANSWER:
This guy is a piece of sh** that is a sociopath - it is scary that he made it through med school without anyone taking notice and stopping him.The fact that he is making his staff take diet pills is probably against some of the rules of being licensed as a doctor. There should be a licensing bored that could intervene regarding the issues that you wrote about above.
I would definately get a lawyer. Try to contact some of the people in the office who knew you and tell them that you will PAY them to write an affidavit or testify in court for you, if they will talk about the circumstances at work.
If his credentials are not legitimate, then you definately need to report him right away. One he loses his license to practice medicine, then you can sue because he was employing you under illegal circumstances.
You can probably contact your state's Consumer Affairs and Protection office and they will refer you to the proper credentialing board to begin taking action. I know that Consumer Affairs handles many issues, and I know that they also handle issues with doctors and their licenses, or if they are illegally practicing medicine, or doing something that is against the best interest of consumers.
I know of a doctor in my state that recently got caught in a drug ring, because he was writing tons of pain killer prescription and making money off of it. Consumer Affairs handled this.
If they won't do anything, you should consider contacting the media. Call NBC or ABC - your local news station and have them come out to do a story. They do these types of topics as special reports, and sometimes they will have people go undercover as pretend patients, or wire tap the employees to record this kind of thing occurring. I bet if they got him on video being such a sociopath then someone would definately take action against him.
As far as your accusaions, like I said get a lawyer, and contact Consumer Affairs on Monday. Also, you should consider a law suit for illegal dismissal of an employee and lost wages because now you are out of a job. As far as I knew, the staff at the dermotologists office don't have to have boob jobs, have perfect skin like a super model. Their major role is to take care of patients. That is their purpose. Not to look pretty. He is a sociopath and he needs to be stopped.
Good luck! Don't stand down to his tireless antics of being a dishonest person. I don't want people like him practicing medicine and taking care of me. That's for sure!

QUESTION:
can I sue my dermatologist?
A month ago I went to my dermatologist office to get a facial, after I noticed some break out due to stress. The esthetician convinced me a facial plus a chemical peeling would do wonders .I had the first chemical pelling ever,it was very painfull. I took pictures right ater i left the office ,just to see the before and after changes.Ater less 24 hrs my face was black ,it looked like a got punched in my face(im thinking this is part of the process) 36 hrs later I start peeling,my sking start to come out in chunks, I look horrible.A week later my skin is all off,the new skin is black and looks burned. When I finally got to see them, they acted surprise and try to blame it on different things. They had no clue what went wrong, but they sure know soemthing was wrong.Same day she gave me another peel, this time the Blue peel. The results were diferent, not so much pain, no skin coming off, this was more mild. Almost a month after my face has spots all over, very dark spots.I dont want to go out, people look at me wierd, I feel horrible. They order me a nuderm treatment,to try to change me for that, and just let me go with it, it's gonna get better with treatment and time.
Should I sue? Do I even have a case?-
ANSWER:
Dont sue those "excuses" they were giving u were probably true something went wrong your face just didnt react the way it was supposed to it wasn't entirely their fault you may of been allergic to one of the ingredients but dont blame them for the whole thing.

QUESTION:
Will you damage your hair if you dye it right after you cut it?
Okay, Today I got my hair cut, pretty short. I want to dye my hair, but should I? If I cute my hair I've been told the ends will be completely open ( I'm not sure I was told) Kind of like If you peel a scab it is open to bacteria etc... But will the chemicals harm my hair? And I mean both ways, Bleaching your hair (since I have brown hair) or just using storebought dye like Loreal.... Cause I want to dye my hair pink/purple before I go back to school. And I was told you have to wait at least 3-6 weeks.-
ANSWER:
No, cutting your hair is good for it. It gets rid of split ends, etc. BUT bleaching it and ESPECIALLY dying it an unnatural color WILL ruin it. I would not advise dying it or bleaching it. If you want to dye it, use a natural color, please. Those colors are unflattering, as well.

QUESTION:
VAGINA QUESTIONS! Girls please help, Im FIFTEEN!?
Okay, so I need to start shaving my pubic area ...vagina :l ....and underarms, like, soon. But I have a few questions. So please, shed some light on any of the areas you have knowledge of, and share your experiences. THANKS IN ADVANCE! ::
1) IS IT TRUE that once you shave, your hair will always grow back FASTER and FULLER with there being MORE of it?
2) I heard that for your underarms, you should shave in every direction. Is this true?
3) I've seen girls with little black dots left under their arms? How do I avoid this?
4) I have NO idea how to shave the underarms, whatsoever. Like, can you be very descriptive in terms of shaving the underarms.
4) What makes shaving easier? Any tips?
5) What razor do you use or recommend for the underarms? Also, do you use creams/conditioners? What do you recommend?
6) As for the pubic area, I am only looking to shave my bikini area. Again, I have NO idea how to shave the underarms, what-so-ever. Like, can you be very descriptive in terms of shaving the bikini "triangle" in the pubic area.
7) As for the hair on the, err..., "lips" (lol), is it okay to just trim them? If I do, will this cause irritation or itchiness? If so, how can I avoid this without having to shave there (I'd prefer to just trim on that sensitive area, just to keep things neat).
This is just a question about hair growth. How much hair grows "down there". As in, to what extent...as in "area coverage". Like right now it is just in the "camel toe" area. How much more will grow? Is it like guys, where I'll have hair up to my belly button!!!! :S9) When and where is it best to shave? In shower, before shower, after shower? Hot or cold water (if it makes a difference :p ) ...as you can tell im new to this :S
10) Please, also share any advice, recommendations, tips etc.
Also, I live in Ontario, Canada...just in case you're looking to suggest products or razors.
I'm 15.
I don't shave my legs yet, FYI.
And I am NOT ALLOWED to use any sort of "Veet" chemical peel off products.THANKS!

ANSWER:
1. it grows faster but shouldnt get any thicker than it normally would have. been shaving for over 10 years and its still the same thickness2.if there is still hair there when you shave in one direction then shave in the opposite direction. sometimes its needed sometimes not. depends on if your razor is getting dull too
3. black dots would be their hair growing back. check you runderarms if you see this then shave again
4.i usually shave upwards first and then shave downward
4 (#2) use soap or shaving cream, this will prevent irritation also
5. i like schick quattro for women but i use my bf razor alot too, his is also a schick
6. i shave against the growth of the hair in the leg crease and sideways going onto the lips. i also shave the upper part so i only leave a small patch. you'll know what works for you and how much you want to shave. best way to start especially if its longer hair is to shave in the same direction that the hair grows.
7. yes trimming all other hair will be fine. use good scissors though so that you dont cut yourself or get hair stuck in the scissors
8. your hair shouldnt grow up any farther than the top of your pubic bone but will extend over to the crease of your legs and the outer part of your underwear line at your legs. the older you get the more hair will grow and get thicker. also when you have a baby things change a little more down there.
9. shave in the shower after you lather up that part of your body real good. do not try to shave without soap it will cause irritation
10. it will be itchy as can be the first few times you do it as the hair starts to grow back in. shave at least every other day and keep up with it to avoid the extra itching. if you are going to shave your pubic region and underarms, i can bet that your legs prob need shaved too. start shaving all of them and get into the routine now to shave everything at least every other day.

ANSWER:
WOOO lots of text to look over, I hope I can Number the correct ones I'm trying to answer for I actually don't know some of them myself.1.) Yes, this is true for both men and women. Mine was actually blonde until I shaved for my 1st time and then it turned brown (though it might of been just by chance I'm not sure)
2.) I tend to do every direction because there are just some hairs that are stubborn enough to some how get missed my your shaving device, so shaving every direction can help. I tend to shave in the same direction until I've gotten most of it, then try different directions for the stubborn ones so I don't leave any behind and get embarrassed later.
3.) I'm not totally sure, but I think the only way you can avoid this is by waxing which I'm to afraid to do anyways and you have stated you cannot.
4.) Seems like I have already answered this in number 2?
5.) I recommend any "razor" thats either (electrical) has a thin metallic cover with holes in it for your hair to slip through cause there is almost no WAY you can cut yourself with it so it's safer for the lip area, or the ones with replaceable razors with a bar that looks like a stick of deodorant because it will make your skin smooth as you shave.
6.) I tend to shave the whole area going from between your legs, and up towards you belly. This seems to be the best way to shave because of the way the hairs grow.
7.) I see no problem trimming them, but it will still have the same effect as number 1. Itchiness only happens if you don't properly wipe away all of the trimmed/shaved hairs.
8.) My hairline was the same as yours, and increased to the whole area down there, but never got close to belt hight, I'v also gotten a couple of hairs leading up to my belly as well which I also shave.
9.) You can shave at any time you feel like it, I use to shave every day but found my skin would get irritated from the constant shaving so I went to every other day and did fine. I use the lotion/razor combo in the shower cause it gives the best end result and the electrical one whenever I'm not in the shower. Because of the lotion/razor combo it seems like the best way to shave is through that way, but I like both.
10.) Do whatever feels most comfortable to you, some things may work better for others so try different things if your able to. But I highly recommend the methods I mentioned.

ANSWER:
1) IS IT TRUE that once you shave, your hair will always grow back FASTER and FULLER with there being MORE of it?
--No. It is a myth. My hair grows back very fast anyways. If you have blond hair, it will be hardy noticable.2) I heard that for your underarms, you should shave in every direction. Is this true?
--- I shave up, then down and sometimes across. Only because some hairs are hair to get.3) I've seen girls with little black dots left under their arms? How do I avoid this?
----You can't really... Just try shaving the area ALOT and you should shave there everyday to avoid the dots.4) I have NO idea how to shave the underarms, whatsoever. Like, can you be very descriptive in terms of shaving the underarms.
---It's easy. Apply shaving gel/foam, body wash OR conditioner/shampoo (yes, hair stuff) and take a razor and go up,down, over etc. It is hard to cut the armpit (legs are easily cut)4) What makes shaving easier? Any tips?
---I find applying a hair conditioner helps SO much ! It makes the area softer and easier to shave.5) What razor do you use or recommend for the underarms? Also, do you use creams/conditioners? What do you recommend?
----Im a girl and I use a mens razor, lol. Because I am too embarrased to ask my mom to buy me some so I use hers and she uses my dad's....They work amazing though. Just the gilette cheap ones. Get one with two+ blades.6) As for the pubic area, I am only looking to shave my bikini area. Again, I have NO idea how to shave the underarms, what-so-ever. Like, can you be very descriptive in terms of shaving the bikini "triangle" in the pubic area.
------ Apply a good shave gel, and shave upwards. Then across. Apply a moisturizer afterwards. It will be itchy for the first few shaves and very sore and maybe even red.7) As for the hair on the, err..., "lips" (lol), is it okay to just trim them? If I do, will this cause irritation or itchiness? If so, how can I avoid this without having to shave there (I'd prefer to just trim on that sensitive area, just to keep things neat).
-----Trimming will not cause irritation.
This is just a question about hair growth. How much hair grows "down there". As in, to what extent...as in "area coverage". Like right now it is just in the "camel toe" area. How much more will grow? Is it like guys, where I'll have hair up to my belly button!!!! :S
-------- I shave my belly and around my belly button. I am a girl too. It doesn't grow back faster/thicker and makes my stomach look much better. Lol..alot of hair grows down there I guess...It grows back very fast after being shaved.9) When and where is it best to shave? In shower, before shower, after shower? Hot or cold water (if it makes a difference :p ) ...as you can tell im new to this :S
---In shower of course. And hot water. Let your legs soak so hair folicles open up and easier to shave. Cold water can cause cuts.10) Please, also share any advice, recommendations, tips etc.
----As I mentioned before, hair conditioner works amazing, especially on legs.

i have undergone chemical peel, i think my skin is so thin... i usually have scars after every pimple.. and it takes many months before it fades away.. please help.. tnx-
ANSWER:
NEVER EVER scrub ur skin wen u hv pimples...it'll spread the bacteria which cause pimples n then u'll hv more pimples....DONOT touch ur pimples...it causes scarring....i had acne too n deep scars aswell...how did they go away...it's easy...
1st i stopped touching my pimles
Used "glycerine based" soap/face wash
use a mild cleansing milk specially for oily skin n then wash ur face n put on anti bacterial toner or pore tightening lotion(Loreal has one)
If u hv only scars n very few pimples use this home remedy...its gr8...helped me a lot:take 3 table spoons of milk n squeeze in 2 table spoons of lemon juice..the milk will curdle...put the crds on ur face for 15-20 min n then wash ur face n put on any good moisturizer....always put sunblock b4 going out.....
do c a dermatologist for acne....my dermatologist said "np peeling!!!"...peeling makes ur skin thin, more sensitive n more risk prone!
Btw acne is also caused by stress n depression if u r stressed abt something do try to chill out n relax!

QUESTION:
Can I move out before my lease is up legally with mold issues?
The mold was there BEFORE I moved in. But didn't see it til after I moved in. I rent from apartments. My mom moved in same apartment but different unit and found her mold before I did. That is why I decided to peel back the triming behind the toilet and check for mold in my bathrooms cause one had a strong chemical smell. Sure enough, there was mold in both bathrooms. I gave them notice 4 months ago and a week later they came to treat it and left saying it was all taken care of. I wanted to make sure since they gave my mom problems about hers and never treated hers. All they did was glue the trim back on without treating it. I asked them to come back and treat it since they didn't the first time I asked. They came back and still only treated half of it. My mom has moved out and is taking them to court. They refuse to do anything around here. I need any info I can get. What are my rights? Please no obvious info, like I need more research. That's why I am asking. I asked this question 2 hours ago and a guy asked why I peeled back the trim and I'm going to get charged. Obviously, it needed to be peeled back to treat the mold. If I didn't peel it off, who would of treated the mold? It's just trimming. Just glue it back. And said I wouldn't win in court because of poor houskeeping and damaging the premisis and Why don't I bleach my bathroom. I do bleach every week. So I had to specify everything over again. Thank you-

QUESTION:
Why do my palms peel badly with each period?
Before each menstrual cycle I get these tiny fluid filled bumps on my left palm (only the left). The bumps turn to blisters in a few days and then peel - deep layer peeling. Anywhere from 10 to 40% of my palm is affected each month. My husband used to have this on the sole of his foot when we were younger. He had it for about a year or so and it went away. He saw a family dr. and a dermotologist who both told him it was probably a chemical exposure. That didn't sound very likely, but whatever. The problem went away after a year and never came back, but during that time I got it on my palm.
I should mention that I've had it for eleven years now. I've seen three dermotologists and two family drs. and still no real answers. They say stress or laundry detergent allergy or just to use some good moisturizer. I've used steroid cream, urea, and perfume/dye free everything. It's not dry skin.
They are peeling so badly right now and I'm just tired of it.

QUESTION:
Chemical Burn Around Vagina. How Do I Soothe It?
I was treated for a yeast infection and the first prescription I was given was Terconazole Cream. She said to put some around the vagina where it itched. It burned like crazy! After I wiped it off, I noticed that it ate the top layer of my skin. I went b'ack and was prescribed the pill which cleared me up real fast but now I'm stuck waiting for my skin to heal. It gets all crusty and after awhile I have to peel it off. Is there anything I can put down there that will help soothe it and help it heal? Have you had this problem before?-
ANSWER:
You must have had an allergic reaction to the cream. This is rare, but possible.I would suggest using natural products so you do not irritate the skin further. Try Aloe Vera ointment - it is soothing and moisturising and will accelerate the healing process.

QUESTION:
Am I too critical on my appearance..should I go through with treatment?
I'm a 19 year old male who is going into his 2nd year of college, and I have a part-time job..keep this in mind hahaUp until the 10th grade I never really paid attention to my appearance, so I was kinda chubby, diastema between my two front teeth, acne..and being white made the acne a lot more noticeable.
But I looked in the mirror one day and realized how much I hated my appearance...I'd neglected it for a long time haha. So I lost a lot of weight, started working out, and I just recently finished my invisalign set (It took 9 months to close the diastema and make my teeth completely straight).
I go tanning as well, because it does look better (since I was super white before) and I have a really good skin tone now that I do that.
However, I recently started focusing more on my acne. My skin isn't oily..I just get acne from stress if I don't moisturize. I moisturize daily, but my acne seems to never want to go away (I have some acne scars as well). My acne is mostly on my face, but I have some on my back as well. It's not severe...maybe mild-moderate.
I'm ok with my appearance now since my skin tone, body, and teeth are good, but my acne I just hate.
I did research and I'm thinking about seeing a dermatologist for a specialized treatment. And after that rids my acne I would do a chemical peel to get rid of the acne scars (they are all superficial).
However, do you think this is too much? I spend 60 a month on tanning, I just finished payments for my teeth (900 dollars overall), and my moisturizers usually are 15 dollars a month. The skin would cost about 700 (if I do the chemical peel, like 60 for just treating my current acne).
I know you'll think I should be happy with who I am, but I'm really self-critical and I know I can't change my mentality.
What do you think? I think if I had addressed these issues sooner than 10th grade, everything would have been better and I wouldn't have to spend so much money and time.
Should I do the skin treatment. I don't lack self-esteem but I know my confidence would be higher if I finally got rid of my acne.
Thanks

I posted it in the wrong section, sorry haha-
ANSWER:
I think that if it would make you happier, then you should do it. Maybe just cure your acne, and wait until you finish college or have a steadier income to get the chemical peel. It depends more on your situation with money. If you're eating ramen for every meal, maybe you should hold off on the treatments. But if you're living comfortably, then go for it. If getting the treatment would make you happier, I don't think there's anything wrong or shallow about it at all.
