Fraxel Repair Offers A Low-risk Alternative To Traditional Co2 Skin Treatments

Fraxel Repair became a common cosmetic treatment in early 2008 to treat sagging skin, sun damaged skin, acne scared skin, and deep wrinkles of the face and neck. The CO2 laser treatment replaced the traditional CO2 treatment that vaporized the skin's surface. The traditional treatment was painful and the recovery period was lengthy.

The new Fraxel Repair treatment can regulate both the intensity of the treatment and the area treated. Now a patient can treat only the bottom third of their face or simply the forehead. An entire face treatment takes roughly 30 minutes to complete and depending on the intensity, requires as little as 3-5 days of downtime.

Fraxel Repair treats deep wrinkles, acne scars, sun spots, sagging skin, and other conditions associated with aging. The intensity of the treatment can be customized to the patient's goals and should be discussed with the cosmetic surgeon prior to treatment. Treatment can often be completed in one session but sometimes a second session is advised for optimal results.

Procedure options and effects should be discussed in the consultation appointment with your doctor and fully understood between the patient and doctor prior to surgery. It is essential that the doctor and the patient are on the same page regarding what to expect during the procedure and post procedure. Be sure to ask you doctor about pain relief options during the procedure as well as post procedure products that will ease and speed recovery.

Fraxel Repair is considered a minimally painful treatment but varies from patient to patient. Based on a patient's pain tolerance and the intensity of their treatment, a nerve block anesthetic may be administered or for patients that wish to feel no pain, an anesthetic can be administered intravenously.

Post procedure, Fraxel Repair all patient's experience redness, dryness, and facial swelling. The length of the symptoms varies due to the variance in treatment options and the difference in the way people's skin naturally reacts to the treatment. Typically patients experience a decrease in swelling 3-5days post-surgery and a reduction in redness continually over a two-week period.

Women patients typically report being able to apply make up to hide redness 3-5 days post procedure. Dryness is easily managed through the use of post-treatment medicated creams, moisturizers, and gentle cleansers recommended by your doctor.

For intense treatments scabbed patches and oozing is a common reaction and will heal within a 10 day period. Some patients experience a slight breakout post procedure especially around the mouth area of white heads or tiny bumps.

If you feel that any of your symptoms are not what you discussed with your doctor prior to the procedure you should contact them immediately. Also, any questions about care post-surgery should be directed to you doctor and regular check ups to monitor healing are recommended by most dermatologists.

The results of Fraxel Repair are often reported as phenomenal. Deep wrinkles are reduced and continue to reduce over several months post procedure. The tone of the skin is balanced and an overall glow of natural healthy skin is achieved. Sun spots and other discolorations are reduced or entirely removed creating a younger, fresher complexion.

Also, the tightening of the skin around the treated areas is significant enough for Fraxel Repair to be an alternative to facelift surgery. The collagen in the face and neck in stimulated by the treatment and starts the natural production of collagen to tighten the skin.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi,
Ok im a dermatologist and il tell you what this treatment is all about.
It virtually has no side effects. So you can go without any fears.Make sure you go to a good doctor though.
What i would like to tell you though is that, this treatment is not too effective for severe scarring.Being a doctor myself I shouldnt be saying this but if you have mild scarring it will reduce it to about 30 % and that too after a lot of sessions. Its not too painful but the downtime is about 2 to 3 days and it is expensive.
Also another problem that can arise is if you have a dark skintone as lasers cause darker skin to gt pigmented so you might end up with dark spots if you dont apply ample sunscreen everytime you go out.
There are no scars left from the treatment. It will only reduce your existing scars but that too very gradually.
If you are ok with the above then go for it!
      Best of luck dear!

  2. QUESTION:
fraxel laser for stretch marks, YO!?
soo i recently had my first treatment. the doctor told me i might not even need more then one (unless i would like to go back, which i probably will) he also told me that usually the fraxel laser requires about 5 treatments for 70 percent reduction but he breifly mentioned that he HAS seen stretch marks become almost invisible before. which i think is awesome. has anybody had this done before? were you happy with your results?? its been about a week and a half for me and you wait at LEAST 3 weeks between treatments. so far mine seem to be less deep and better in texture. also the red is gone. i think its working but its hard to be completely sure because the area is still healing from the laser treatment!

just curious how other people have felt about fraxel laser for stretch marks!

also the doctor seemed very nice, and i dont think he was lying about the amazing results some people get! i know it depends on your body and how it reacts to the treatment too... :)

    • ANSWER:
To get a better idea of how well its working you should take a good high resolution picture of the stretch marks before treatment and then more as you go through the treatment. That way you can have clear images of how it is working.

      Good luck!
